Formed during the 70’s by the brothers Anthony and William “Billy” Mims along with Lee Barnes, Kendle Phillips, and Kendle Calvin,  the group won many of the local high school talent shows as well as the city-wide talent shows that were very popular during their teenage years. They sang the hits of groups such as the Temptations, the Dramatics, the Chi-Lites and others. Later, Kendle Phillip was replaced by Michael Baptiste. Over the years, the group took on various names and members. Tragically, Anthony Mims died after suffering a stroke during a late night rehearsal a few years ago, but the group continues to carry on the legacy he helped start over 40 years ago. The latest member to join the group was Freddie Johnson who became a member 4 years ago. The New Orleans Mystics have recorded several songs and have travelled as far as Japan singing R&B old school as well as a few of their own original compositions.
